OUR HISTORY

Our club is celebrating its 94th Anniversary this year. The club was formed at a bridge luncheon held at the Bellport Country Club in October 1930, by a group of young women under 25 years old. The mothers of these women belonged to the Sorosis Club. Because they were not of age to join that club, they decided to form a “Junior” Sorosis Club of their own.

The early years of the new club were very social, but it soon became notably more community and charity minded. By the late 1930’s, the women no longer wanted to join the Sorosis Club. They increased the age limit to the new club and their membership steadily rose to 75 by 1946. It was at that time, the name was officially changed to:

“The Woman’s Club Of Patchogue”

Our body of members is currently 68. We meet monthly and host several fund-raising events throughout the year via our programs and committees. Our service to club contributes to our community. The events we sponsor provide several other local non-profit organizations with donations throughout the year. Annually, we also provide scholarships to young women in several local surrounding high school districts.

Because of the social aspect of club, it has enabled several life-long friendships. New members are vital to the future of our club. We welcome guests, new members and potential new friends that are interested in joining us in our efforts.
